Tucker Carlson: Watergate Was Deep State Op On Nixon

TUCKER CARLSON SAYS WOODWARD-BERNSTEIN, WATERGATE WAS DEEP STATE OPERATION

It’s hard to keep up with the ridiculous hyperbole and fact nudged reporting by some popular rightwing news personalities in recent years.  But that has been even more challenging since the run up to the last Presidential election.  In fact, it has become almost impossible to make sense of contemporary disinformation- I mean, nuanced news opinion.  But contemporary reality isn’t enough to completely sully.  Now, major American historic events are on the menu to utterly re-contextualize as just another conspiracy morsel reflecting on what’s supposedly happening today.  An easy item to identify in that vein happened this week, when Tucker Carlson said that the Woodward-Bernstein reporting on Richard Nixon was a Deep State operation to get him out of office.  We’re talking about Watergate, folks.

TUCKER CARLSON LOOKS TO RE-WRITE HISTORY, SAYS WATERGATE CAME FROM FBI

As ridiculous and offensive as that is, it still doesn’t quite capture how bad Tucker’s baseless claim is.  Carl Bernstein partnered with Bob Woodward to break the news on the Watergate scandal, or Watergate.  Their reporting singlehandedly led to Nixon’s resignation, just as he realized at the time that there were enough votes to successfully impeach him and remove him from office.  This is unlike today, where major news reporting muddies the water enough to give Republicans cover, more than once, in refusing to impeach Donald Trump out of office.  And Tucker Carlson has made the claim that Woodward-Bernstein was a Deep State operation run by the FBI?

IS TUCKER CARLSON TRYING TO DISTRACT FROM TRUMP TAX RETURNS, OR SIMPLY TARNISH THE FBI?

Perhaps this news is coming out of Tucker’s show on Fox News to distract us from Donald Trump’s tax returns.  Details from those returns continue to hit the wire in embarrassing, even criminal, fashion.  Or perhaps the rightwing, via Fox News, has reason to vilify the FBI in order to continue to undermine other active investigations we still don’t know about.  Tucker presented his remarks after showing a montage of Trump critics after the FBI raid at Mar-A-Lago, where they found and removed hundreds of classified and to secret documents.

After the montage ended, Tucker cackled and then said, “The funniest part was Bernstein, formerly of the Washington Post, who literally participated in an FBI operation; not guessing, documented, an FBI operation to drive a sitting, duly elected president from office.  Carl Bernstein participated in that.”
